With the help of a voice assistant such as Amazon Alexa, the Google Assistant, or Siri, you can control your lights with the sound of your voice. You can ask to turn lights on and off, dim, change colors, set scenes, and more. Before you get started using voice control, you need to know a few things:
- You cannot pair ZigBee products directly to a Google Home or Amazon Echo device (with the exception of Amazon Echo Plus which has a built in ZigBee hub).
- To use Amazon Alexa or the Google Assistant, you must pair your voice control device to your compatible ZigBee hub. Always double check to make sure your hub is compatible with your chosen voice assistant.
- If you are using Bluetooth products with Apple HomeKit, you can use Siri directly through your iOS device (iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, etc.) or through your HomePod. Siri will automatically work with your HomeKit set up as long as Siri is enabled within your settings.
To pair your voice control device to a specific system, follow the instructions below:
If Siri voice control is already enabled on your iOS device, then there are no additional steps to connecting Siri to Apple HomeKit. To enable Siri, simply go to your Settings > Siri & Search on your iOS device. Ensure Listen for “Hey Siri” is turned on. You can also enable Siri when pressing the Home button and when your screen is locked.
